Valentine's Day & 100th Day!
Lot's of celebrating going on in our room these past few weeks!

We made some LOVE hats!

We had to think of three things that we love.

Lot's of things to love in first grade!

YUMMY cupcakes!

...and sweetheart floats!

C. dressed up especially for Valentine's Day. So handsome!

100 days of First Grade

We made 100 hats.

10 strips of paper + 10 things drawn on each one = 100!

Super cute!

We worked in our 100 books.

Each first grader was asked to create a 100 shirt!
I was SO impressed!

I'm lucky to get to spend 100 days with these goof balls!

We came up with 100 things we love about first grade.

Each group of 2 had to come up with 10 things!

I wasn't able to catch too many families at the Family Breakfast on Wednesday

Our student council representatives did a great job serving the breakfast!

Have a happy week!
Almost March?!

A Five Day Week....
Do We Remember How To Do This?

We had a presenter from the Minnesota Science Museum come and do a presentation this week about Dinosaurs!

Look how big we are compared to a dinosaurs leg bone!

Our class is also taking part in Jr. Achievement. We are paired up with an individual from a local business, they come in 5 times and teach us a little about Economics and their jobs.

We enjoyed listening and learning from Devin from Fastenal.

Technology at its finest!

W-K First grade is piloting a new computer program called More Starfall,
and extension of starfall.com

It has math and language games that fit the common core standards that we are learning.
The students are loving it!

One of our Daily 5 jobs is our Poetry book.

We played Toilet Tag in gym this week! So silly!
You have to get "flushed" to be untagged!

Doubles, doubles, doubles!!

We had a special visitor on Friday!
Gage came to visit our classroom.
He was excited to meet all the crazy kids I hang out with everyday! :)

Have a great weekend!

Tales of a Terrible Teacher Blogger......
So my son started crawling these last two months....does that count as an excuse for no blog posts? ;)
Bare with me as we rewind all the way back to December.....

We have had lots of fun practicing our addition doubles!

We also worked on verbs.

Thinking carefully about the missing addends.

Distinguishing between long and short vowels.

Our class elf brought us a special letter and package....

Candy cane seeds!

We had to make a wish as we planted them in sugar.....the next morning candy canes had grown!
Mrs. Glick wasn't quick enough to get a picture!

Journal writing.

Our class Christmas party was full of treats, Bingo and laughter....

....and of course presents!

Of course a teacher would give books!

We were sad and had to say good bye to one of our classmates who was moving away.

We sure miss him!

Identifying 10 more and 10 less has been a big standard for us in January.

Math journals!

We learned about Martin Luther King Jr. in January also!

Did you know his real name was Michael?

Daily 5 - Word Work

We have reading buddies with another First grade classroom!

One of our favorite games during Guided Reading is "Melt"!

Roll the die and read the phrase!

The Winhawk boys and girls basketball visited our school.
This one resembled someone in our class......:)

Determining if equations are true or false.

Reading Warriors from the WSU football team came to read with us.
