First Grade Rewind....
St. Patrick's Day Fun
Every year those darn leprechauns cause trouble in the classroom.

Turned our picture upside down....

....even left us a note!

What a mess!

Everyone had to help clean up!

We got to drink leprechaun juice for snack!

And we wrote an acrostic poem.

We made some super cute leprechauns, and had to write when we feel lucky.

WSU Nursing
Two WSU nursing students spent some time in our classroom teaching us about germs.

We had to rub some special lotion onto our hands.

Then we had to wash our hands the best we could.
We checked our hands with a special light after to see if we got rid of all of our fake germs.
A lot of us had to wash again!

Thank you future nurses!

Learning Centers

We studied 2D and 3D shapes in March.
One of our math centers was to add up shapes by counting how many sides they have.

We played another game where we had to roll two dice together, add them up and color in a shape with a matching number of sides.

Sorting 3D shapes!

We also practiced non-standard measurement.
We had to measure things in our classroom using unifix cubes.

We had to measure our feet.......

....and a friends foot!

Our desk too.

One of our math goals in April is to correctly count and identify coins.

Counting coins game!

Have a great week!

Dr. Seuss
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose!"

We celebrated Dr. Seuss day a week ago.

We had some of our family come in and read with us!

The Cat in the Hat even read to us!

We Seuss'd ourselves!

Our snack leader helps with calendar every morning.

We got to use the ipads during math centers this week.

Lots and lots of story problems!

Ronald McDonald came to our school on Thursday!
He was super funny and talked to us about how important it is to read!

We talked about the difference between common nouns and proper nouns.

We did a writing activity about a melting snowman!
Too funny!

What Does the Fox Say?

The kids are always begging to do "the Fox" song! It has turned into our Friday tradition.
Too funny to watch!

A Normal Week in First Grade
And by normal I mean....5 full days!

During our Jr. Achievement time this week we learned how to read a map.

We had to identify what the 'key' was and what each symbol means.

One of our math centers this week was building numbers using base ten blocks.

Assessments.....assessments....assessments! Tis' that time of the year again!

These kiddos are having fun playing Addition Bingo!

L. is enjoying her time on MoreStarfall.com

On Friday our WSU Football friends came to read with us!

We gave them LOTS of books to choose from!

Happy March!
