What in the world have we been up to?
Lots  and lots of math!

During math fact centers we get to use the lap tops!

We have been working on ordering numbers! It gets tricky when we throw in some hundreds!

'
One of our favorites is our 120 puzzles. We have to put a 0-120 chart back together like a puzzle! Some of them are tricky!

Patterning on the Smart board.

One of our Daily 5 word work centers is building words with magnets.

We have to figure out some texting codes, with our cell phones.

Play do is a favorite Fun Friday center.

So are beads at the Art table!

The library is always free during Fun Friday!

Stickers at the Art table are a hot commodity.

We like to play teacher at the white board.

Read-a-thon

Our class book was "The Tiny Seed", so of course a flower pot was the only costume choice!

L. was the GRAND prize winner for first grade!

She was very excited!

As a school we raised just under $15,000!!!!!
AWESOME!

We are working on problem solving!

Ms. Nelson shared a lesson on good listening during Guidance.
We had to follow 3-step directions.

We also played telephone. We had some funny sayings at the end.

We really like working in our math journals.

Spider addition and tallies!

Our listening center is visited frequently.

This was a tricky math center. We had to choose a number in the middle and figure out what was one more, one less, ten more and ten less!

Row, Row, Row by Ten!

Each morning we have to build a number using our base ten blocks.

Being silly with our snack!

Another 7 year old in the books!

We had a fire fighter visit our classroom.

We had fun learning about all the different tools fire fighters use.

That fire fighter happens to be pretty special to a certain someone in our class:)
We wrote all the fire fighters letters telling them why they are our heroes.

Mrs. Glick's and Mrs. Cassellius' classes.

Enjoy our little Fall break!

First Grade Rocks!
I am finally posting! Between computers not working and my little boy at home stealing my attention at night I have neglected our blog! I apologize! Here's what we have been up to these past few weeks!

We jumped right into learning in first grade!

One of our first activities was to find friends who started with a certain letter of the alphabet, and write their names on our list. Not sure what they thought was more fun, the game or using the clipboards:)
We had to be patient so our friends could write our whole name.

We talked about "Good Fit" books and what it meant if a book was a good fit.  We compared this to shoes. They decided I was best off in my flip flop and not Mr. Glick or Gage's shoes.
We are doing our best to remember that our books should fit us the same way!

Working on a sight word reader.

We made "About Me" posters to hang in the hallway.

One of our math standards that we are working on in September is tallies.
This was a fun tally game on the smart board.

We then had to ask our friends if they were scared of spiders.....

.....and tally our results.

We had snowballs in September! Each snowball had a math fact on it.
We got to throw a snowball once we got the answer on our paper!

M. brought a robin's nest to share with us!

We played a game called "Scoot!" We had to walk around to different cards when Mrs. Glick said "scoot" and write down our answers.

We had to figure out what number was missing on the number line.

Math Centers!

Dice Drawing! We had to roll the dice, add them together and see what we needed to draw on our picture!

Using our 0-120 chart we had to figure out what numbers were missing!

We listened to our random number cd and write down the numbers that we heard.

We also had to choose a card and write what numbers came next!

In "Count it Up" we had to work with a partner to count the objects in our bags into groups of ten!

The straws were kind of tricky to count.

During language we played a sight word game using dice.

FUN FRIDAY!
Has your kiddo been talking your ear off about FUN FRIDAY?!?
We don't earn those Brain Bucks all week for nothing!
Here's a few of the things they can "spend" their money on....

$18 will buy you time at the Art table!

$22 will get you time at the smart board.

$22 will get you time on the laptops!

You can spend $10 on board games.

Or $12 on the white board.
Be your B.E.S.T! :)

Daily 5
We've been practicing all the "pieces" for weeks. Now we put it all together and we ROCKED it!

One of our word work choices is stamping sight words.

Sorting digraphs.

At "Read to Someone" we get to read to people in our group.

Listen to reading is another Daily 5 station.

We use magnets to spell our sight words.

And we even get to write them on a magna-doodle.

We love to dance and sing!

Check back soon to see what else we're doing in first grade!
