What's Happening in First Grade?
We have been busy, busy!

Working on short vowel CVC words.

Writing in our journals.

Learning the rules of Read to Someone time.

We're very good at it!

We've also been working on some skills in our math journals.

Reading with our Fourth Grade buddies is our favorite thing to do on Monday's!

We practiced finding the consonant clusters in words in our L.S.S notebooks.

We also enjoyed working in our poetry books.

We add our word sorts to our spelling notebooks.

After we sort them of course!

We have been working hard on writing numbers 1-120.

We played a fun game called Scoot!

We had to "scoot" around the room to different cards, and identify what number is missing.

We used our charts if we needed help.

Anything with clipboards is fun!

On Friday we had a police officer come and teach us about bus safety.

We even had to practice getting on and off the bus safely.

Another great week in first grade!

First Grade Take Two.....Week Two That Is!
This week we got our book boxes. We use these during quiet reading time.

We also got to read with our Fourth grade buddies!

One of our math centers this week was to make pattern trains.

At another center we had to roll and count tallies.

We played an ordering numbers game on the smart board.

We played some math fact games on the laptops.

We had to put together some tricky 120 chart puzzles.

We also learned what it means to be a Reading Expert!

We had our first week of spelling! Keep up the practicing each night at home!

We got a special treat for a birthday on Friday! It's actually cupcakes!

We wrote in our journals for the first time.

FUN FRIDAY!
We had our second Fun Friday! We actually had enough money for the regular Fun Friday prices this week!

Car carpet cost $8

Legos and Marble Works both cost $8

Play-do was $12

Library is always FREE!

Laptops were $20!

The listening station was $18.

The Art table was $15.

Smart board was $20!

Lots of good behavior allowed students to buy time at their favorite centers!
Yay First Grade!!
